83. THE LIVING WORD

The Bible is the Word of God, being record of words spoken by Christ and recalled to the minds of the writers by the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:26)

But the words are nothing without the living power of Him Who uttered them, because they find their meaning only in the power of His abiding and everlasting Presence.

They are living words, being the expressions of Him-who-lives and who is Being and the very essence of Life and Existence Itself and they find their true meaning only in Him.

The words He utters accord with His essence and nature. All existence is within and of His power and so it is that every word He utters is true and will in due time find its fulfilment in Him.

Such is the Promise of His Living Word made flesh and come into the world. Christ Himself is this Living Word expressed, manifested in human form, the living Word of the hidden God, revealed and made plain in human form for men to see. The Christ said regarding Himself, "Who sees Me sees the Father, and henceforth you have seen Him. (John 14:7) I and the Father are one (and the same)." (John 10:30)

The Old Testament scriptures proclaimed, "God Himself will come and save you." (Isaiah 35:4) And he who comes will be called, "God the Mighty, and Father of the world to come." (Isaiah 9:6) This is the Christ; the Messiah, God come into the world revealing Himself to men, communicating directly, visibly and personally with men.

Christ's words ring true throughout the Creation. It is His voice which said, "Let it be!" (Genesis Chapter 1) And that which had no being came to be. "Without Him, (the Word of God) nothing has been made that has been made." (John 1:3)

The whole Creation waits upon His voice.
